My name is Ashlea Anderson and I am a 21-year-old, graduating from Deakin University, Burwood, in 2015 with a Bachelor of Primary Teaching. I am an energetic young woman with a passion for teaching and learning. I have had many rich learning experiences over the past few years and look to further develop my practice as my experience continues. I am a hard working individual with clear goals in and out of the classroom.
I attended Oakleigh South Primary School, and continued my education to Sacred Heart Girls College. During my own schooling, I found it extremely important to be an active member and leader in the school community. As a result I participated in a range of extra curricular activities such as sport teams (netball, softball, football, hockey, soccer, swimming and athletics) and school productions. I was lucky enough to have leadership roles such as various sports captaincies, peer support, athletics captain, vice house captain and House captain in year 12. These responsibilities gave me various new skills that I have used in everyday life outside of the school environment.
I have a great passion for all types of sports. In doing Karate for 10years, I was able to achieve my Second Dan Adult Black Belt. Netball, however, has become my true passion. I have achieved a lot in this sport such as my A grade umpiring badge, attending Underage nationals, state league grand finals, umpiring the Australian Netball League and Netball Australias’ Emerging Talent Umpire Program. These experiences have allowed me to share my knowledge by mentoring young umpires in their individual development, which has sparked my interest in pursuing teaching as a career. Through netball I have had to further develop my communication skills, time management and planning effective development programs.
Through my sporting successes, I have learnt that hard work, determination, passion and patience are very important when wanting to achieve your very best, and I will endeavour to use these traits in my teaching to allow my students to become their very best.
